Cysts

A cyst is a sac like structure which is filled with gaseous, liquid or semisolid material. They can grow in any part of the body and can affect anyone regardless of age.

Cysts vary in size; some can only be seen under a microscope where as some can be so large that they displace organs.

Cysts can arise through a variety of processes in the body, including:
Obstructions to the flow of fluid
Infections
Tumours
Long term inflammatory conditions
Genetic conditions
Birth defects

Cysts can, if large enough, be seen or felt when you run your fingers over the affected area. If you suspect a cyst, go and see your doctor for more information.
