Diarrhoea


Diarrhoea affects people of all ages. It is the passing of stools which are loose and watery. Diarrhoea is usually caused by a viral or bacterial infection. It usually clears up in a couple of days and is not serious. However there is a risk of dehydration.

The symptoms of diarrhoea include:
Cramping tummy pains
Nausea or vomiting
Fever and headache
Loss of appetite

If you have diarrhoea, follow these tips:
Avoid becoming dehydrated by drinking lots of fluids
Eat foods high in carbohydrates such as bread, pasta, rice, or potatoes,
Antidiarrhoea medicines. Never give antidiarrhoea medicines to your child.

If your symptoms do not clear up in a week, you should consult your doctor or pharmacist.
