Allergies

An allergy is an inappropriate response to a substance by the body’s immune system. Common substances which cause an allergic reaction are pollen and grass. Certain foods such as nuts and dairy products may also cause an allergic reaction.

An allergic reaction can vary from person to person, and even on the time of year. For example, may people suffer from pollen allergy in the summer only. This is characterized by red, watery eyes and sneezing. However, a food allergy may present itself as a rash causing itching to the skin.

Most people learn to recognize their allergy triggers early and can avoid them.

However, if you are unsure, an allergy specialist can perform basic tests to find out what your individual triggers are. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor for more details.
