Heart Failure

Heart failure does not mean that the heart has stopped working; it means that the heart's pumping power is weaker than normal. This results in a lesser amount of blood being pumped around the body than is required.

Heart failure can be caused by high blood pressure, heart attack or other medical conditions which overwork the heart. The symptoms of heart failure include:
Fluid in the lungs or ankles
Water retention
Dizziness, fatigue and weakness
Shortness of breath
Rapid or irregular heart beats

By making lifestyle changes, such as exercise or diet you can take an active role in treating your heart failure. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor for more details on selfhelp for heart failure treatment plans.
